After work I started on enclosing my battery bank in the trailer. The batteries have been sitting out in the open and exposed. Anything could have fallen across the terminals and shorted them out. I didn't go with a sealed battery box as I'm using AGM batteries that do not vent potentially explosive fumes like lead acid wet cell batteries can.
So all I did was to take some plywood and make a couple of sides to protect the batteries and then made a removable top to cover them. I needed to make the top easily removable as I disconnect the power leads from them so they won't get discharged while the trailer is not being used. If power was still going to the trailer things like the LP Gas Leak Detector can run the batteries down. Two projects down.... about a half dozen more to go!
By the time I was done it was getting dark so didn't have a chance to take any pictures. I'll get some in the next couple of days so you can see my complete setup. Maybe that will explain everything better.
I did get a nice "care package" delivered by the UPS driver today. I got a 5th wheel skirt that will really be useful once I get settled in for a longer term stay. No, I'm not turning the trailer into a sissy, it's a vinyl skirt that goes on the front of the trailer by the pinbox (hitch) and goes between the trailer and the ground. This creates a nice little storage area that is out of sight for things that don't get used a lot (tables, chairs, hoses, etc.). It's not a secure storage spot and I won't be putting any valueables there, just things to get out of the basement to clear room for things that need to be locked up.
OK, that means I have one more project to do, install the skirt.
