I know, I know, I haven't posted anything new for a few months. It's not that I haven't been out and about, just that I've had a lot on my plate. But it's now time to start updating the blog again as winter is just around the corner. I still have some articles to move over here from the old blog and I'll do that over the next couple of weeks.
My original plans for the winter was to head to Cape Coral Florida to stay at my sister's house. They just moved down there is August and have a large driveway that I could have parked in and have easy access to electric and water. Because of this there was no hurry to complete some projects on my 5th wheel trailer as I wouldn't be needing most of those projects this winter. But some further investigation found that they have local zoning laws that would only allow me to stay 10 days in their driveway. That presented a problem as I have no intention of paying the exorbitant lot rents that campgrounds/resorts in that area charge.
So I have decided to head to Arizona this winter as it is an area that I have really want to stay at stince starting my snowbirding last winter. After looking at what area to stay in I have decided to spend some time in Quartzsite. But staying is Quatrzsite means I will want to boondock.... in other words find a piece of desert to park my trailer and camp off the grid. But (it's there always a "but") this now means I have to get my ass in gear to complete many of those project that I put off over the summer.
My list of project to finish before the cold weather really sets in are:
- New tires on the trailer
- Install new awning
- Finish installing inverter (to change DC battery power to AC)
- Finish enclosed battery box
- Install solar panels
- Install outdoor shower setup
- Setup truck to carry the generator and MoPed
- Find portable water container (bladder) for transporting fresh water to trailer
There are a couple that I really need to finish before I would do any serious boondocking. The inverter has to get done, the solar panels are a must have, setting up the truck for at least the genny is a requirement and I have to have a way to get water from town to the trailer. The rest would just be gravy and would be awful nice to have.
But at least it will give me a bunch of things to blog about as I work on these projects. Sta tuned!
