Kalamazoo to Quartzsite 2010/2011 Day 6: OK, I know this is a day late for this update. I got to Rusty's RV Ranch about 1:30pm. They were having a Christmas dinner at 3 so I had to get part way setup and then cleaned up to make it in time for the dinner. Then once the dinner was done they built a big bonfire and we sat around, drank beer and told lies. By the time it was all done it was too late for a blog update so I'm a day late with the update.
The drive here was easy. I was worried about the traffic going through El Paso. I got into town about 10am and there was no traffic to speak of.... I couldn't understand why until I remembered it was Christmas Day.... Duh!
Rusty's RV Ranch is pretty awesome. It sits at the base of the Chiricahua Mountains and close to the entrance to the Coronado National Forest near Rodeo, NM. The weather here is normally pretty mild for a desert climate with winter temperature high of 60 and low of 30. Summer temps will get you a high 90 with a low of 60. Out the back window of my trailer is the mountains less then 10 miles away.
The sites are dirt as you would expect for being in the desert and the sites are some of the biggest I have ever stayed in. There are back in sites around the parameter with interior pull throughs sites. They are easily 100' long. The owners are great and live on-site in their own trailer and there are plans to do some upgrades, add buildings, etc. If you are ever in the area you have to make sure you stay here for a few days.
I am going to stay here at least 3 days but I can already see that I'll be here a few days more then that.
