While it is only the beginning of September, I've started to prepare for my winter trek to Florida. My original plan was to head down around Christmas but since I won't be working I may head down in November. I have a lot of things to do before I head out.

Construction wise I need to get my battery box built. Right now they are just sitting in the front basement compartment with no lid on them. I'm going to make a wood sealed container for them. I also want to add a weather station with a weather radio. I like knowing what the weather is doing and it's always a good idea to have a weather alert radio handy.

Lots of other small projects like an extra portable step for the entrance in case I'm parked on a hill and the bottom step is to high. Make a portable clothesline, extra shelving inside, new latches for the front closet, additional LED bulbs and install a quick connect for the portable LP heater.

In a couple of weeks I'm going to have the Level-Up auto leveling system installed. This a system that automatically levels the trailer using 6 hydraulic jacks. Once you unhook the truck, you just press a button and in about 30 seconds the trailer is level. Since I travel single, leveling can be a real pain, I've spent close to an hour just getting the trailer level using blocks and the standard jacks. I just don't want to hassle with it any more. See the video below on how it works.

While I may not get it done this fall, I also want to install some solar panels. Most of my camping this winter will be with full hookups so solar is not that big a deal now. But I want to head out west again and do more boondocking. Solar saves on running the generator. Since this isn't high in the priority list right now, it will be one of the last things I do.

So it looks like I'll be pretty busy the next couple months. Keep an eye out as I keep you updated on what I'm doing.
